PE and Sport Premium Funding

 

In April 2013 the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport provision. This funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. From October 2017 that funding was doubled. In accordance with DfE guidance schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. In planning our use of PE and Sport Premium funding we make reference to the following DfE five key indicators:

 

  • the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - kick starting healthy active lifestyles 
  • the profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  • increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • increased participation in competitive sport
